Set aside triggering article 50, pending a general election because the referendum fell short of a ‘Democratic Process’ for the following reasons:
The leave campaign used deliberate misinformation and made pledges it could not or had no intention of delivering.
The voting age in Scotland was lowered to 16, but in the rest of the UK this age group were excluded. Thus depriving a significant proportion of those most affected an opportunity to take part.
No coherent post exit plan was available for scrutiny by the electorate.
In the wake of the resignation of the Prime Minister a general election should be called.
When this is complete and a new PM is in place, there should be a debate in parliament on holding a second referendum.
Part of any second referendum must include a full post exit plan.
An independent body should be appointed to oversee the ‘tactics’ used by both sides to ensure that it is open and honest.
