Israel has recently announced a lobbying campaign to persuade Australia, Canada and Germany to cease their funding of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, the Netherlands.
This is a retaliation for the recently announced Palestinian membership of the ICC (Israel and the US are not members) and the announcement of ICC prosecutors that they will conduct an enquiry "in full independence and impartiality" into possible war crimes committed by Israeli forces in the Palestinian territories.
The International Criminal Court has shown itself to be an influential body when national courts are unwilling or unable to prosecute criminals or when the United Nations Security Council or individual states refer investigations to the Court.
Please ensure that your governments continue funding the ICC.
