Those experiencing problems with the council and legal aid
I have been temporarily housed in a hostel for almost a year despite being told initially I would be here for a maximum of 4 months.

I've experienced a range of problems and have had NO actual help from the council, I am still in exactly the same position as I was this time last year... Stuck waiting to be given a more stable accommodation to wait in so I can begin to rebuild my life.

I am currently sharing a bed with my two year old son in a very rough area, we have experienced an attempted break in that has made me very shaken up and sent my anxiety through the roof.

We now currently have rats, which I reported on the 23rd of June and have repeatedly reported since &dash which still hasn't been dealt with despite the council being given photographic evidence.

The hostel environment isn't suitable for toddlers, I have to lock my son in my room every time I go to the bathroom.

I have put review after review in which have all came back negative and they have offered me no help with all of the ongoing issues i.e. Me not feeling safe to use the bathroom at night.
After repeatedly being let down and spirling into depression I contacted Shelter hoping they could help. They referred me to a solicitor who said he was unable to deal with my problem as it isn't eligible for legal funding because I am not technically 'homeless' as they have given me an accommodation to wait in.

So I am hoping that those reading this will sign this and help give us some power to be moved from unsuitable accommodations.
