UNHCR
over 200 people from Afar ethnic group, including small children, women and elderly people who have fled for their lives the homeland Eritrea and sought asylum in Yemen sat for almost one year in a notorious prison in the city of Al hudeida.
Under pressures from various humanitarian organizations including AVAS took UNHCR contact with the Yemeni authorities in December 2013 to investigate the cases of refugees. After interviews the UNHCR decided to move them to Sanaa to an accommodation in the beginning of January 2014. But suddenly , last week, the asylum seekers were informerad to leave the guest house and were refered to the street, in the cold and rain, without a roof. the big risk right now is that these people will be secretely deported by the Eritrean security services back to Eritrea , where they risk their lives.

We, at RED SEA AFAR DIASPORA IN SWEDEN (RADIS) which is one of the organizations that have had intensive contacts with UNHCR office in Yemen and thought that finally these people's suffering was coming to an end are shocked by this tragedy.
RADIS appeals to the concerned authorities in Yemen to respect the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols.

RADIS urges UNHCR to take its responsibility and end the process they have initiated to bring the asylum seekers to a third country as soon as possible.
