Volta River Authority, Shenzhen Energy Ghana, EPA
We want the Government of Ghana led by the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the China/Ghana based Shenzhen Energy Group to abandon plans to construct a coal fired power plant in Ghana.

This is important to us because of the devastating health, environmental and social impacts the plant is going to cause in the community going to house it. The project site, Ekumfi Aboano, a village in the Central Region of Ghana, has a population of 1,900 people, with 55.9% of them being children. (Figures by Ghana Statistical Service, 2014). We are very much concerned about the irreversible heath hazards going to be meted out to this vulnerable group.

Ultimately, we also believe the whole world is transitioning from dirty energy to clean and renewable energy and so investment in new fossil fuel infrastructure shows a betrayal and lack of commitment and leadership towards fighting climate change.
