People of Malta: block GM
In days Malta’s European Commissioner could grant approval for the first new genetically modified crop in years, going against public opinion and 19 member states! But if we persuade him that this will be hugely unpopular at home in Malta, we could stop him.

Use the form on the right to send an urgent message to Commissioner Borg. Remember to be polite and to personalise your message -- the more personal our messages are, the more influence they will have. Here are some suggested points to include:
  • As fellow citizens of Malta, we call on you not to approve Du Pont’s GM corn.
  • This decision will be deeply unpopular and goes against a vote by the European Parliament and the wishes of 19 member states.
  • The plan to let individual states bring in their own bans could see countries sued by GM companies.
  • Former Maltese Commissioner Dalli approved a GM potato and his decision was reversed. Don’t make the same mistake
