Save Zimbabwe's baby elephants

To Walter Mzembi, Minister of Tourism:

As concerned citizens from around the world, we are appalled by news of your Zimbabwe's plans to sell as many as 80 baby elephants to places like China and UAE for entertainment purposes. This is a tragedy not only for your country’s natural resources, but also for those terrified animals that will most likely not survive away from their mothers and their habitat. We appeal to you to reverse this decision and release these calves into the wild, where they belong. We hope to be able to visit Zimbabwe to support its tourism industry, and would like to recommend travel there to our friends -- but only when Zimbabwe decides to remove the stain of this cruel trade from its reputation and help us to support you with a clean conscience.

Save Zimbabwe's baby elephants
Over 80 baby elephants were snatched from their mothers and roped together in a Zimbabwean national park where they’re waiting to be sold to amusement parks in China and the UAE -- but it’s not too late to stop this cruel trade!

Separating young elephants from their herds causes severe trauma and distress with calves often refusing to eat and drink -- one of them has already died and attempts to capture more are underway. The government is frantically trying to keep this deal away from international attention. But, if we blow the lid off this story globally and threaten their tourist revenues, we could push the government to rethink its plans.

More than 30 tourist agents have threatened to cancel their clients’ trips to Zimbabwe. When we reach 1 million signers, we will hire private investigators, document and expose the abusive trade and launch a massive media push to get more travel agencies on board. Sign now to get Zimbabwe to release the baby elephants into the wild.
