Stop Hungary's rape promotion program

To EU leaders::

As concerned citizens, we urge you to withhold financial support to Hungary until the police remove the extremely offensive program about rape. We call on you to use your leverage to ensure the people of Hungary do not form misconceptions of rape as well as rape victims, and work towards creating policies which protect, not harm women.

Hungary's police just released a national video ad campaign that blames women for rape because they drink, dance and dress provocatively -- it's going viral throughout the country and women everywhere are calling for the police sent to protect them to stop producing the exact stereotypes that promote rape. Let's stand with them.

Right now, national women's groups are calling for the video to be pulled, the police force to apologise and a refocus on real ways to prevent rape. The Hungarian police get significant structural development funding from the EU. Our call for a halt to funding until Hungary stops promoting rape now, can force the police force to change its terrible message.

It's hard enough for sexual assault victims to seek help from officials, less than 10 per cent of rapes are reported across the EU. But now the very police supposed to protect Hungary's women are literally telling them the rape is their fault. Let's end this fast -- sign the petition.
