Egypt: Stop the Mass Execution
To Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, EU Foreign Ministers, US Secretary of State Kerry, and Foreign Ministers around the world:
As citizens from across the world, we are horrified by the mass death sentence handed down to 528 Egyptian citizens in Minya. By all reports the trial has fallen short of the most basic legal standards. Egypt’s failure to uphold these fundamental standards of justice is a major stain on its global reputation. As Egypt’s representative to the world, we call on you to use all your powers to get this ruling retracted and a fair trial for these citizens.

Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy wants to avoid anything that damages his country’s image abroad. He claims this is a legal matter, but there is growing evidence that he can interject in judicial proceedings. Governments are condemning the ruling, but for Fahmy to act, his counterparts need to send a clear message: step in, or face isolation and financial penalties.
As the international face of the regime, Fahmy has been seeking legitimacy for his government in the eyes of the world -- let's let him know he can't have it unless this barbaric sentence is overturned. Click to build a mega petition to persuade Fahmy to stop the executions and ensure a fair trial. Lives are on the line -- sign now.
