WHO: Save the world's babies, stop Zika!
To WHO Director General Dr. Margaret Chan and the Executive Board, as well as leaders of the world:
We urge you to establish a panel of experts, known as an emergency committee, to recommend how the world should react to the Zika virus epidemic and its consequences. The future of thousands of unborn babies depends on rapid action by the WHO and the governments you convene. The WHO says it has learned the lessons of the slow initial response to the Ebola outbreak: now the world is watching to see if that’s the case.

We have the World Health Organization to help us rise as one people to meet this crisis with science and prevention, but it's so far refusing to act: even to establish an expert panel, let alone release the money countries need to protect the most vulnerable!
Meanwhile, the Zika virus is spreading across the Caribbean, Latin America and it just hit Europe. Scientists think it’ll be in the US in months when the mosquitos that carry the disease arrive. There is no time to lose.
Just a year ago, our international health leaders failed to act swiftly enough on Ebola and scores died. They’re meeting this week -- let's not let them make the same mistake again. Sign to call on them to act now and save the world's babies.
