President of the Republic of El Salvador Salvador Sanchez Ceren: Justice to Aldo Alexander
On Saturday, June 27th, 2015, between 20 h and 21 h El Salvador local time, our partner, friend and brother Aldo Alexander, transsexual man, headed to his house
on a bus (route 4) with his friend. When she asked the driver to stop, he ignored her and went straight ahead. Alexander complained about. He then headed to a police station where he accused Alex of harassment. Then 9 policemen forced him out of the bus, they were beating and kicking him. They knew all along he was trans and they attacked his friend. He tried to defend her because they were hitting and kicking her as well. But they were too many. The 9 policemen hit and stomped him so hard that he lost consciousness. One of them tried to asphyxiate him. Alex is now under arrest and facing charges of resistance and aggression. We are now asking to the president of El Salvador, Salvador Sanchez Ceren, and the District attorney, Luis Martinez, to observe closely this case and to the competent authorities we demand justice for Alex, for him to be released and reparations for all the damage inflicted to him. We demand for the police officers to be punished for their abuse of power and transphobia.
