Teachers need continuity and deserve that their experience is recognized here in Italy in exactly the same way as it is everywhere else over the rest of Europe. Because moving a teacher from one school to another every year is an action which is a major source of stress for the teacher and which has extremely negative repercussions on the delivery of the teaching itself; due to varying teaching styles, not to mention the very negative impacts this current system has on teachers’ relationships with their pupils. Because the majority of teachers earned their teaching credentials in post graduate schools and other teacher training courses, and are still waiting for a permanent post. Because Teachers also need money to live and to raise their children. Because some temporary teachers, after years and years of insecurity and finally in total despair, have taken their own lives. Because a government which attributes great importance to its Scholastic system should in consequence also look after its teaching staff equally and as a whole whether temporary or permanent.
