Way back then, FT Labuan compete in SUKMA with their own flag and with the participation of FT Labuan athletes. Since 2006, FT Labuan had to merged into another flag consists of 3 federal territories and compete under a single flag. The contingent then recognised by Federal Territory @ WIPERS.
Previously, without FT Labuan in the contigent, FT Kuala Lumpur are still the dominator of SUKMA. FT Kuala Lumpur itself are seen as the gigantic power in SUKMA beside Terengganu and Selangor.
FT Labuan dreams is not becoming champion in SUKMA but FT Labuan keen on seeing all the local athletes to competes in SUKMA. Way back before, the might be a slight lack of knowledge about Sports Science but nowadays in FT Labuan, all the coaches had been equipped with Sport Science knowledge and specific licenses had been obtain by the coaches.
Furthermore, there are more than 20 graduates from various universities specialize in Sports Science and Sports Management and some of the graduates had done several research and some had been published and table in local conference.
In addition, some of FT Labuan athletes manage to win their slots in representing Malaysia and competing in international events. This proved that FT Labuan development programe is one of the best programme. For the time being, Lawn Bowls and Sepak Takraw are some of the sport that FT Labuan athletes currently undergo their training. Not forgetting Karate-Do (just to mention some of the sports).
FT Labuan local sports facilities also are adequate to fasilitate the needs of all the athletes. The range of athletes reaching their training point are very close.
So we as FT Labuan people are longing to see our local athletes to compete in SUKMA using our own flag.
