State of Israel: Ethnic Cleansing in the Jordan Valley

State of Israel
IDF forces, together with armed militias of Israeli settlers, are carrying out ethnic cleansing and war crimes in the Jordan Valley. Palestinian communities are suffering due to the confiscation of their water sources, destruction of their dwellings, and theft of their grazing lands and olive trees – all for the sake of promoting this racist, colonial project.
Palestinian access to grazing lands is prevented by the issuing of illegal orders by the military commander, mostly commonly declaring the territory ‘closed fire zone’ or a closed nature reserve – which the settlers alone are free to enjoy.
The settlers living in Israeli settlements and outposts threaten and physically attack the shepherds as they attempt to graze their animals – which for them means survival. Settlers throw stones, attack and bind the shepherds, run over their flocks, and set fire to the grazing land. IDF soldiers raid these Palestinian communities by night to intimidate the elders, women and children, and carry out repeated arrests of the shepherds.
The only ones disrupting these racist festivities are a handful of human rights activists who accompany Palestinian communities in an attempt to protect their rights. This they do by witnessing and documenting the crimes being carried out by settlers and soldiers in the Jordan Valley. The dissemination of these crimes is a great embarrassment to the State of Israel – which is known to characterize the IDF as the ‘world’s most moral army’.
In an attempt to further isolated and demoralize these Palestinian communities, on September 18, 2018, IDF soldiers seized and impounded the 4X4 vehicle which is critical in allowing the activists access to the Jordan Valley. Meanwhile, there have been no cases in recent years of the IDF impounding the vehicles or tools of violent settlements and outposts, even of those individuals who have repeatedly physically attacked Palestinians.
I call upon the State of Israel to stop committing these crimes against the Palestinians of the Jordan Valley; to hold the IDF officers – and whoever else may be responsible – accountable for the crimes they have committed; to end the political persecution of human rights activists, and to immediately release the vehicle (White Toyota Lexus #6286751) they have impounded illegally in an attempt to prevent the documentation of their crimes.
