PÉTITION: Sauvons le magnifique site de l’ancienne mine Wallingford-Back/Save the magnificent site of the former Wallingford-Back mine (Mulgrave-et-Derry, MRC Papineau, Outaouais, Qc)

Ce site d'une beauté exceptionnelle et d'une valeur historique indéniable est menacé de démolition par le Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources Naturelles du Québec.

Il n’y a pas si longtemps ce site merveilleux était peu connu et sa fréquentation peu dérangeante pour le voisinage. Mais avec la publication de photos sur les réseaux sociaux, les visiteurs ont afflué en grand nombre sur les lieux où aucune infrastructure ne permet un si grand achalandage. Les instances politiques ont alors opté pour une solution de facilité, c’est-à-dire la destruction du site. Cette décision devrait se prendre prochainement.

Le regroupement des amis de la Mine Back croit que ce site doit être préservé, car il constitue une richesse indéniable non seulement pour la région de l’Outaouais, mais aussi pour tout le Québec. Plusieurs études ont été menées prouvant sans
l’ombre d’un doute toutes les possibilités récréotouristiques, culturelles, éducatives et scientifiques de ce lieu unique.

The location is threatened with demolition by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Quebec. Not so long ago this wonderful site was unknown. But with the publication of photos on social networks, visitors flocked in large numbers to the area where no infrastructure was in place to accommodate the large amount of traffic. Political bodies then opted for the easy way, that is to say, to dynamite the site. This decision will be taken soon. The friends of the Back mine believe that this site should be preserved because it is an undeniable richness not only for the Outaouais region, but also for all of Quebec. Several studies have been conducted proving recreational and tourism opportunities, cultural, educational and scientific opportunities of this unique place.
