SAFE FLYING

Covid Srars cov2 is here to stay. It's time to change our traveling habits to a more secure and safe environment for crew and passengers.   On an average, Over 500,000 passengers are in the air, 6 millions fly every day, adding trains and ship...Forget comparaison with the spanish flu here. We are talking about a totally new ball game.                                             If you can afford an airline ticket, cruise...you can afford to protect you and get us protected as well.                                                                                                                                            As a flight attendant, I believe the only solution to get our crew and passengers safe while flying in 2020 with new viruses we need to implement new international traveling regulations as soon as possible. It has been 6 months and nothing has been done to protect us.                                                                                                                      Every passenger over 12 years old traveling by air, ship, or train will need a health passport with all immunization requirements: poliomyelitis, yellow fever, polio, tuberculosis, measles, hepatite A, B, influenza, meningococcus, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, European encephalitis, cholera, rabies. As well as a proof of negative Covid test and a medical note saying the passenger is fit to fly 48 hours prior to boarding an international flight. In order to protect crew who are risking their lives to bring you from point A to point B healthy and safe. Only cellphones, laptops, and baby supply can be boarded as we know viruses can stick to surfaces. We need to limit the propagation of any virus and upcoming virus so we can travel like before. We encourage people to wear hazmat suit as well. The wear of a mask will be mandatory all through the flight. Eating time will be limited to a certain time only except for medical reasons such as diabetic or glycemic issues. As people tend to pretext they are eating so they can have their mask off this is why we need to sign the petition we can not just rely on the mask and passenger. As soon as we turn around they remove their mask, dont cover their nose, and then get angry at us because we are trying to make it safe for us and all other passengers. Also, those who can not wear masks will where a medical armband give by their pharmacist with a letter indicating their medical reason not to wear a mask like (asthmatic people cardiac or autism...) This will provide fairness for everyone. They will know why you dont wear a mask. As a member of a civilized society, we need to respect people and not risk their life.                                                                                                                            We all want our vacation back to be able to see our family.                                                                                                                                                                                                Many crew members on ships, train and plane were sick and kept on working putting people at risk, many passengers left before the pandemic happen, over 6 million of them had already reached their destination before we knew there was a deadly virus contaminating security people, customs agent, ground agent, crew members, bus drivers, taxi drivers, hotel staff and family. People die. And, we, crew members kept on working risking our lives to bring you where you wanted to be to have fun and party while we risk our life while working. All we ask you to do is to be a responsible traveler. When you go to Africa for example,  you dont take a chance you get your shots, you take your malaria pills well now anywhere you will go you will be at risk make it safe for you and for us. Please sign the petition as it is important for us crew members and passengers boarding a flight, a ship, or a train. The economy will thank you too.                                                                  I have been sending this message everywhere but I need your help. I have been back to work for 2 months now with very little passengers on board and fell sick. Why? Because people dont listen. Crew members work in a tiny space in the back of the plane, they eat their meal next to the washroom, there could be 8 in a small galley eating their meal spreading their germs to one another and on to you; the passengers. They sit in front of the washroom and see many passengers not washing their hands. On a long haul, they have to sleep close to one another without any distanciation. Its is very difficult to stay healthy in this job and even with a light load I got sick. I was the first one in my company to ask for protective equipment. It took 3 months to get it. I wear my mask all the time, the gound, the gloves wash my hands but if I share the same bathroom and pass by next to you while you eat...I am at risk. And then I got sick. I could not breathe. I got home and called an ambulance. It could have been at the airport when the customs agent took my passport without cleaning it after, in the bus, at the hotel, a crew member, when I went around the hotel for a walk in Germany or in Paris or even when I had breakfast or at the grocery... Who knows but I got sick. I am at home waiting for the result.                                                                           Crew members kept on flying over and over during the pandemic and no one asked us to quarantine ourselves after a flight.  We were essential services bringing you back home risking our lives and no one dares to check how healthy we were. No one checked our temperature or randomly tested us for Covid imagine. Its time for us to be safe and for passengers to be clear to fly.
