John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons: United Kingdom, stay with us to build Europe.

Today the reality of Brexit is catching up with us, and we are aware that everything indicates that Great Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union will be effective early this year. A long history unites us and our British friends, our friends and colleagues in our various struggles with whom we share a common vision of a Europe of solidarity. We are all convinced that their departure will be a huge loss in the fight for "Another Europe", centred on a vision of solidarity and a humanistic approach. Brexit is the legitimate democratic choice made by some of the British people. We respect that choice. But we, citizens of other countries in the European Union, would like to say to the citizens of United Kingdom that we want to continue building Europe with them. We are convinced that the 46 years of joint adventure have made it possible to achieve fantastic things together, and that social, human and economic progress has been achieved, in the interests of all Europeans. The choice to leave the European Union is a loss to us all, which we deeply regret. By signing this petition, I express my wish to keep you as allies and friends in the construction of this common European project.
