Move back the Greek release date of the new Yorgos Lanthimos film "The Favourite". #FerePiswTonLanthimo #SaveTheFavourite

We ask the Greek distribution company Odeon and Fox Searchlight Pictures (who is holding the theatrical rights of the movie internationally) to reconsider their release date of "The Favourite" in Greece. While the film opens in most European countries in January, Odeon recently announced a new local release date (February 7) which will obviously harm the box-office potential of one of the most anticipated titles of 2018.

Let’s be honest. We all know that the upcoming leak of the "For your consideration" screener will be utterly tempting for people who (urgently!) want to see the Yorgos Lanthimos film in cinemas. The majority of those won’t wait until February! Lanthimos is the most acclaimed Greek director of our times and the prior local release schedule (January 3) was simply ideal. Please, move back the Greek release date of "The Favourite" in early January (even on limited release). More people will be satisfied and will go to movie theatres, instead of downloading a DVD screener. Just do it! Turn a lose-lose situation into a win-win case for all!
