Emmanuel Giboulot - organic wine grower: We support your refusal to use toxic pesticides.

M. Giboulet is due to go before a tribunal in Côte-d'Or France for going against an order by the Prefect and refusing to use a toxic pesticide against a hypothetical risk of the epidemic golden Flavescence, a vine disease spread by leafhoppers. M. Giboulet has been producing organic wine for over 40 years and assures us that vines can be perfectly adequately protected using organic methods.
He faces 6 months in prison and a €30,000 fine. If he loses his case, this will open the floodgates and all organic growers could end up losing their organic status if ordered to use toxic pesticides which kill bees and other pollinators on which we all depend.
Effectively, M. Giboulot could go to prison for refusing to pollute!
If he can get 500,000 messages of support this will send a powerful message to the judge and, hopefully, the case will be dropped and an unacceptable precedent defeated. So far he has more than half the number of signatures required and more people are signing every minute.

We desperately need to protect already endangered bees and other pollinators, and organic growers are our best hope against polluted produce of all kinds.
