Turkey has been illegally occupying one third of the island of Cyprus for the past 38 years. This has been condemned by the international community repeatedly in writing but has had no real effect.

Nothing has been done to address this act of aggression due to strategic interests. Apparently it's okay to be a bully if your military is big enough.

I recommend you watch the following documentary on youtube in order to get a short history lesson of what has happened so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QjnFqqt8BM

It's time to send a clear message to important political leaders that our morals are more important than strategic and monetary interests.

My hope is to remind important leaders from around the world that this issue is not forgotten and that people support a harder stance politically against Turkey, starting with a request for them to stop being considered an EU candidate while they illegally occupy a portion of fellow EU member state.

Will the petition be taken seriously? Probably not, but signing it will only take a few seconds of your time, and if we get lucky, it might get enough attention to make a small difference.

Thank you all for reading the petition.
