"Dominican Republic to be 'Socially Cleaned' in two days"
http://tinyurl.com/p5fcqrg
Some 250,000 Dominicans of Haitian descent, many of whom trace back their Dominican ancestry to 1929 and have no personal connection to Haiti, are going to be deported to Haiti, starting on Thursday, June 18 and continuing until all are expelled from the country. This is part of a legacy of violent anti-black racism in the Dominican Republic, and not only are the dark-skinned Dominicans, now stripped of citizenship by the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic, being treated bestially by the Dominican government, they're also being dumped into an even poorer country, Haiti, which has no way of caring for even more penniless people. This violent institutional racism cannot be tolerated.
We must demand action now, and if it is not forthcoming, we must be prepared to organize boycotts of Dominican exports and leisure travel to the Dominican Republic.
