Liebe Organisator*innen des Motz -Straßenfestes und des CSD,
wir freuen uns sehr über Eure Entscheidung, die Gruppe Homosexuelle in der AfD von Euren Events auszuladen und Euch überhaupt von extrem rechter Propaganda zu distanzieren, indem Ihr Euch dem neu gegründeten Bündnis Arsch hoch! Du hast die Wahl gegen AfD- und NPD-Aktivitäten angeschlossen habt.
Gruppen und Organisationen, die zu Rassismus anstiften, zu Gewalt gegen Geflüchtete aufrufen und sich für eine diskriminierende Gesetzgebung stark machen, haben nichts verloren, wo Menschenrechte gefeiert werden. Einmal abgesehen von der Widersinnigkeit der Teilnahme einer mehrheitlich homophoben Organisation an den Feierlichkeiten zum Christopher Street Day , ist die durchgängige Rhetorik und Haltung der AfD in unerträglicher Weise rassistisch und aufhetzend. Die Versuche der AfD, ihre rassistische Ideologie zu legitimieren, indem sie formell am CSD teilnimmt, stellen ein offensichtlich zynisches Manöver dar. Emanzipatorische und progressive Bestrebungen sollen für das eigene Anliegen instrumentalisiert werden, das darin besteht, Angst vor und Hass auf muslimische und migrantische Communities in Deutschland zu schüren.
Angesichts unseres gemeinsamen Verständnis, dass Rassismus in unseren Bewegungen keinen Platz hat, müssen wir mit tiefer Enttäuschung die seit einigen Jahren erfolgte Einbeziehung offizieller Repräsentant*innen der israelischen Regierung beim Motz -Straßenfest und beim CSD feststellen. So wurde der israelische Botschafter offiziell eingeladen, anlässlich der Eröffnung des CSD-Umzugs zu sprechen; die israelische Botschaft konnte beim Motz -Straßenfest mit einem Stand präsent sein; und Propaganda-Material des israelischen Außenministeriums konnte verteilt werden, ohne dass dies kritisch in Frage gestellt worden wäre.
Israel verletzt seit Jahrzehnten in ungezählten Fällen Menschenrechte und das Internationale Recht. Es verwehrt der palästinensischen Bevölkerung das Selbstbestimmungsrecht. Israel hat in den besetzten palästinensischen Gebieten faktisch eine Apartheid-Situation etabliert[1] und quält weiterhin die Zivilgesellschaft im Gazastreifen durch eine gnadenlose Blockadepolitik[2].
Die derzeitige israelische Regierung, die rechtsradikalste überhaupt in der Geschichte des Landes, hat die Repression in den besetzten Gebieten intensiviert und allein im vergangenen Jahr hunderte Zivilist*innen schwer verletzt und umgebracht[3]. Zugleich baut sie weiterhin illegale Siedlungen und weist sämtliche internationalen Friedensinitiativen zurück. Selbst innerhalb der international anerkannten Grenzen Israels hat die politische Repression ein erschreckendes Ausmaß angenommen. Sie richtet sich zunehmend gegen oppositionelle Stimmen, Menschenrechtsorganisationen, Geflüchtete und Parlamentarier der palästinensischen Minderheit. Um den früheren israelischen Premierminister Ehud Barak zu zitieren: Das Vorgehen der israelischen Regierung hat in den vergangenen Monaten „faschistoide Züge angenommen“[4].
Die gründlich dokumentierten Versuche der israelischen Regierung, in der internationalen Öffentlichkeit ihre Verbrechen dadurch weiß zu waschen, dass sie die Aufmerksamkeit auf die relativ liberale Einstellung lenkt, mit der man in Teilen des Landes israelischen LGBTs begegnet, sind immer wieder auf heftige Kritik seitens führender LGBT-Aktivist*innen weltweit gestoßen[5], ganz zu schweigen von denen in Israel[6] und Palästina[7], die sich heftig gegen die Versuche des Pinkwashing wenden. Diese Kritik richtet sich nicht gegen die bürgerrechtlichen Erfolge der LGBT-Community in Israel oder gegen Kämpfe die sie weiterhin auszufechten hat; sie wendet sich vielmehr gegen den zynischen Missbrauch dieser Errungenschaften, um Israel als liberal und demokratisch darzustellen, während arabische und muslimische Communities weltweit verteufelt werden. Das Maß an Heuchelei, das derartige staatlich subventionierte Pinkwashing -Kampagnen kennzeichnet, wird noch offensichtlicher, hält man sich die unerbittliche Politik der Regierung vor Augen, mit der sie in den letzten Jahren alle Gesetzesinitiativen zur Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen von LGBTs abgeschmettert hat[8].
Wir vermögen keinen wesentlichen Unterschied zwischen den Versuchen der AfD und denen der israelischen Regierung zu erkennen, unsere Communities und unsere Kämpfe für die eigene Propaganda und beschönigende Selbstdarstellung zu instrumentalisieren. Wir fordern Euch dringend auf, Euch die Prinzipien vor Augen zu halten, aufgrund derer Ihr die AfD für eine ungeeignete Partnerin eingeschätzt habt, und dieselben Bewertungsmaßstäbe an jede/n Unterstützer*in des CSD anzulegen. Ein Ernstnehmen der langen Liste rassistischer Vorgehensweisen seitens der israelischen Regierung verlangt nach genau derselben Abgrenzung von ihr und Solidarität mit der legitimen Bewegung der Opfer dieses Rassismus.
Wie es Jan Noll, der Herausgeber der Berliner queeren Zeitschrift Siegessäule unmissverständlich ausdrückt: „„Im Sinne der LGBTI-Bewegung ist es unsere ethisch-moralische Pflicht, die Stimme gegen rechts zu erheben“[9]. Das sollte nicht nur auf deutsche Rassist*innen gemünzt sein, sondern Rassist*innen und jene, die Menschenrechte verletzen, überall auf der Welt umfassen.
Deshalb fordern wir Euch auf, 2016 zum ersten Jahr zu machen, in dem offiziellen israelischen Staatsvertreter*innen und israelischer Propaganda im Rahmen unserer alljährlichen Feier kein Raum gegeben wird. Erlaubt es Vertreter*innen des Staates Israel nicht, an unserer Feier von Menschenrechten und Gleichheit teilzunehmen. Sagt Nein zu Pinkwashing!

Dear Organizers of the Motzstraßenfest and CSD,
We applaud your principled decision to disinvite the group “Homosexuals in the AFD” from taking part in your events and for clearly distancing yourself from extreme right-wing propaganda, joining the newly funded coalition “ Arsch hoch! Du hast die Wahl “ against the activities of the AFD und NPD.
Groups and organization who incite racism, call for violence
against refugees and push for discriminatory laws have no place in a celebration of human rights. The contradiction of a predominantly homophobic organization attempting to join the Christopher Street Day festivities aside, the AfD’s repeated rhetoric and gestures are unacceptably racist and divisive.
The attempts of AFD to legitimize its racist ideology by formally joining CSD are a transparently cynical attempt to hijack emancipatory and progressive causes in order to incite fear and hatred against Muslim and migrant communities in Germany.
Based on our shared understanding that racism has no place in our movements, we want to express our deep disappointment for the inclusion of official representatives of the Israeli government during the Motzstrassenfest and the CSD in recent years. This included an official invitation for the Israeli ambassador to speak during the opening of the CSD parade, allowing the Israeli embassy to put a stand during the Motzstrassenfest and uncritically welcoming propaganda material printed by the Israeli foreign ministry.
Israel has been in violation of International law now for decades
for countless violations of human rights and the sovereignty of the Palestinian people. They have in effect created a situation of Apartheid in the occupied territories[1] and continue to torment the civilian population of Gaza with a brutal economic blockade[2].
The current Israeli government, the most extreme right-wing
administration in Israel’s history, have intensified its repression in the occupied territories, killing and critically injuring hundreds of civilians just in the last year, while continuing to build illegal settlements and rejecting any international peace initiatives[3].
Even within Israel’s internationally recognized borders, political repression against oppositional voices, human rights organizations, refugees and members of the Palestinian minority have alarmingly increased. To cite former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, the actions of the Israeli government in recent months “ is exhibiting signs of fascism ”[4].
The well-documented attempts by the Israeli government to
internationally whitewash its crimes by directing attention to the relatively liberal acceptance which Israeli LGBTS enjoy in specific parts of the country have been resoundingly criticized as pinkwashing by leading LGBT activists around the world[5], not to mention within Israel[6] and Palestine[7]. This critique is not directed toward the many civil-rights struggles that have been won, or the ones still being fought by the Israeli LGBT community; instead, it specifically targets the cynical usage of these to brand Israel as a liberal and democratic state, while vilifying Arab and Muslim communities around the world. The level of hypocrisy shown by such state-funded pinkwashing campaigns is made even more evident by the government’s trenchant stand against all bills in recent years to improve the lives of LGBT citizens[8].
We see very little difference between the attempts of the AFD and those of the Israeli government to use our communities and social struggles to rebrand themselves. We urge you to consider the principles by which you deemed the AfD as an unacceptable ally and to then apply that principled evaluation to every supporter of the CSD. A serious reckoning of the record of racism perpetuated by the Israeli government demands the same gesture of disavowal and solidarity with the just movement of its victims. As Jan Noll, the editor of the Berlin queer magazine Siegessäule clearly puts it. “In the spirit of the LGBTI movement, it is our moral duty, to raise our voice against the right-wing”[9]. This should not be only limited to German racists, but should apply to racists and violators of human rights worldwide.
We therefore demand that you make this the first year in which Israeli state officials and Israeli propaganda find no place in our annual celebration. Refuse Israel state officials from taking part in our celebration of human rights and equality. Say no to pinkwashing!
