PM Stephen Harper and Michael O'Sullivan CEO, Humane Society of Canada : Stop All Animal Shelters In Canada From Using Gas Chambers To Kill Animals

It is inhumane to suffocate an animal to death.
An animal in a gas chamber suffers greatly before dying, even when strictly following chamber operating guidelines. Fear, convulsions, vomiting, choking are only a few experiences of an animal being gassed. The shortest time to die is several minutes, but on average it takes longer and can be as long as an agonizing half hour.. Several minutes of breathless panic is several minutes too long!
Animal Gas Chambers are animal abuse at it's worst. People in most other countries are horrified to learn that Canada uses Gas to kill dogs and cats. Besides being cruel, it is archaic and highly shameful.
We people will continue to speak up for our Canadian animals until you, the people who have the power, insist we Stop allowing the torture. Do the morally correct thing. Please outlaw Any and All Animal Gas Chamber use in Any and All of Canada's Animal Shelters and Pounds and not exclusive of Any nor All other facilities in Canada which at any time provide shelter of any kind, permanent or temporary, to any companion animal.
