President of the Maldives
Former President Mohammed Nasheed, the first democratically-elected president of the Maldives, was arrested illegally on 22 February 2015. All four of his lawyers were rejected by the court, leaving him without legal representation, which is a constitutional right of every citizen. His arrest was not allowed to appeal, which is again a constitutional right. He was manhandled and harmed right on the door steps of the court by police. He was remanded in custody indefinitely while others charged in the same case was not detained. He was refused treatment to his injuries and taken away immediately.

As the above-mentioned facts and the current state of the Maldivian judiciary won't allow a free and fair trial for him, we are demanding that the Maldivian government release former President Nasheed immediately and drop all political charges against him.

UPDATE: On 13.March.2015, President Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in jail.
