Return ALL Standard Consumer Protections, Including Bankruptcy, to student loan borrowers.

Currently, nearly ALL standard consumer protections, including bankruptcy, have been stripped from student loan borrowers by the US Government. An entire generation of young people are now ENSLAVED by UNPAYABLE DEBT. There is no escape from this debt. There is no statute of limitations. Those who default are hit with gigantic fees that would make a mafia loan shark jealous, and THIS IS CURRENTLY LEGAL IN THE USA. No other type of debt or debtor is treated this way. If this problem is not solved, the younger generation will not be able to buy homes, cars, or durable goods. This will not only destroy the US economy, it will also destroy the economies of the countries that produce goods that Americans buy. This is a GLOBAL problem. Already the Illinois state senate, the city of Albany, NY, and economics scholars at Harvard University have called for the return of all standard consumer protections, including bankruptcy rights, for student loan borrowers, in order to save the economy and as a humanitarian act.
