South Korean Female Golfers of the LPGA
To the South Korean Female Golfers of the LPGA:

Since 1950, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has been the world’s leading professional golf organization for women. The association celebrates a diverse membership with more than 1,700 world-class professionals representing 29 different countries.

South Korea is very proud to dominate the LPGA; in fact, 22 of the top 100 players in the LPGA are from that country. As a leader in the world of sports, this gives all the South Korean members of the LPGA a unique opportunity to serve as role models for girls and women around the world, and to promote the country and economy of South Korea. While the South Korean female golfers are making their country proud, there is a shameful and dark side to South Korea that must not be ignored, and that is the barbaric dog and cat meat industry.

Every year, an estimated 2.5 million dogs are tortured and slaughtered as a result of the dog meat industry and consumers who eat the meat of these poor animals. Dogs bred on dog meat farms exist for their entire lives in squalid, feces-encrusted raised wire cages in utter misery only to be slaughtered in the most horrific of ways – by electrocution, a hammer blow to the neck, hangings and beatings, bleeding to death from a slashed throat, burning to death from a blowtorch, or being thrown into a vat of boiling water while still alive. They are being butchered in full view of other dogs cowering terrified in cages, in public and in broad daylight.

This undercover video by animal rights activists in South Korea will show you first hand the brutality inflicted upon man’s best friend: http://youtu.be/3uR8R8Mu70Q

On October 2, 2015, a new documentary shining the light on this horrific industry will be released; please watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/bPiPkrAH3jI. When the world views this documentary, not only will South Korea’s image be tarnished, citizens such as you will suffer shame and embarrassment. As the world’s awareness of this brutality grows, South Korea cannot continue to ignore this issue.

Famous anthropology Ashley Montagu said, "The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit." We are asking that you, as leaders in the LPGA, use your status to speak out against the cruelty of the dog and cat meat industry. If you do not care about the suffering of these animals, then speak out against this cruelty for the benefit of your country.

The favor of your reply is requested.
