The Chief Coroner of England
Our son and brother Rory James Embling was a seemingly fit and healthy young man but on May 14th 2014 while he was travelling in a car with a friend he collapsed and died.There was no indication that he was ill. It was a complete shock to his family and friends and he is sorely missed.
During the following inadequate investigation by The Coroner's Office the views of Rory's family were not considered .Rory's subsequent Post Mortem report includes information that was not tested at the time of his death and later investigation has shown to be incorrect.
We, as a family believe that this has influenced the investigation and led to the incorrect recording of Rory's death.
A recent 4 page letter from an eminent cardiologist has been sent to the Coroner which questions much of the findings of Rory's original Post Mortem and cause of death. We also have a report from an independent pathology lab where Rory's tissue samples were sent and this report also throws up doubt.
In March 2017. Assistant Coroner James Newman agreed to reopen Rory's case. However, in April 2017, this offer was withdrawn by Senior Coroner , Dr. Robert W. Hunter despite the new evidence available.
Assistant Coroner Newman had offered to set up a meeting with the various health care professionals and allow us, Rory's family, to try and find out what had happened to him.
Not only are we now denied this opportunity but Chief Coroner Dr. Hunter refuses to enter into any further correspondence with us or with Jeff Markham our representative from Cardiac Risk in the Young who has been working on our behalf.
We do not think that it is right or proper that a public figure can refuse to communicate or answer reasonable questions put to him.
We feel that we are entitled to a proper, open investigation into Rory's death and that the relevant associated paperwork should be a true reflection of the facts.
