Please help me put pressure on the Moroccan government to decriminalize homosexuality in Morocco by reaching 1 Million vote.

Moroccan Justice Minister Mustapha Ramid unveiled his party’s government’s plan to reform the country's justice system during several news conferences in Rabat since he had been appointed a minister. However, the disappointing thing is that LGBT issues in Morocco have never been addressed.

Under the Moroccan Article 489 of the Penal Code, Homosexuality is punishable with a lengthy prison period that can stretch from 6 months to 3 years.

Gay people are constantly attacked brutally and punished in public if they are identified . Last summer 2015, a gay man was severely beaten by an angry mob of young men. He was dragged from a taxi, beaten and assaulted. The same thing happened to a young gay man in Casablanca just few weeks after the appalling attack in Fez. Just last month, many gay men were jailed in Agadir and other Moroccan cities.

None of the major or minor political parties have showed any attention to address LGBT-rights and no LGBT rights legislation has been enacted in a great silence that does
not seem to lead to any intention to review the Article 489 of the Penal Code to decriminalize homosexuality in Morocco.

As a women’s rights and an LGBT activist, I am inviting the whole world to have their attention drawn to the situation of gay people in Morocco . Not much news reported about the attacks and imprisonment of gay people in Morocco, especially from the national media which some of even wondered if “homosexual people should be burned in Morocco” (Maroc Hebdo Weekly 2015).

Please help me put pressure on the Moroccan government to decriminalize homosexuality in Morocco and protect gay people . Sign the petition to show the Moroccan government that they can not get away with their inhuman treatment of LGBT though the shameful silence of media and the intimidation of LGBT activists.
