The Underwriters of Travel Insuranz at Lloyd's of London
During his travels in Canada, Ross Pointer (an Australian citizen) slid onto a sharp stump whilst snowboarding, and was badly impaled by it. The stump severed Ross’ Gluteus Maximus muscle vertically in half, it shattered his sacrum to pieces and left a deep penetrating wound of about 20cm in length across his buttock. Ross was rushed to the closest surgical hospital, where he had two surgeries, to remove the large pieces of wood, splinters and bits of his shattered sacrum that lodged throughout his bottom.

Ross is extremely lucky that he did not lose complete function in his legs and excretory organs, as he was very close to severing the nerve supply to his lower limbs, and completely tearing out his colon.

To add to Ross' ordeal, his travel insurance company ( Travel InsuranzOnline Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd ) who is backed by certain underwriter's at Lloyd's of London , is refusing to pay for Ross’ medical expenses. Ross is now looking at a very significant surgical and hospital bill!

The company claims that Ross did not purchase snow sports coverage , despite him being adamant that he did. The issue may have resulted from a malfunction with the company's online purchasing process, or may simply be a cunning stunt by the company to avoid payment.  Regardless, it is clear beyond doubt that it was Ross' intention to have this coverage, and even in the face of a possible website error, the company has a legal and ethical obligation to provide Ross with the coverage that he elected to have.

Ross' partner underwent a rigorous 3 month internal dispute process within different tiers of the organisation, to appeal the company's decision, and at the end of it received the same devastating response. The company refuses to provide the couple with web logs to indicate the specific information that was entered into the online payment system at the time of policy purchase.

Ross' situation has sparked an external investigation into the matter, by Australian financial watchdogs, and has raised concerns among international circles about the credibility and lawfulness of the company's actions.

Upon their return to Australia, the couple is very optimistic that they will be able to produce the evidence required to prove that they did in fact elect to be covered for snow sports.

In the meantime, we are banding together to ask Travel Insuranz and the relevant underwriter's at  Lloyd's of London , to stand up and do the right thing, so as to free Ross from any further trauma and heartache, and to allow him to heal and rebuild his life peacefully. It is not too late for the company to redeem their reputation by covering Ross' medical expenses!

Ross is so thankful to all of his family, friends and anonymous supporters, for their incredible help and encouragement throughout this difficult time. He is especially thankful to those who have contributed so generously to his online crowdfunding campaign - Project Dead Stump  at <https://ozcrowd.com/campaign/210>, and to those who are making the effort to sign and pass on this petition.

Let's stand together to help Ross receive some justice and fair treatment from this industry giant, and to help put an end to this type of unethical and unjust treatment for ALL!!
