This petition is directed towards Tony Hall, Director-General BBC.

I understand that Channel Four won the rights to broadcast the Paralympics. However, BBC1 is the most watched TV channel in the UK, therefore the Olympics reaches a higher level of viewers in relation to the Paralympics.

I am aware that Channel Four did an amazing coverage of the Paralympics, however, the Olympics receives a considerably higher amount of coverage in comparison.

My issue is with the sufficient lack of human diversity aired on TV - this needs to change. By airing the Paralympics on a lower viewed channel suggests it is deemed less worthy. If equality is to be achieved, the Paralymics should stand next to the Olympics, not be shunned to one side. Our attitudes towards disabled people will remain negative until we witness a more diverse representation of our society in the media.

BBC1, you broadcast the Olympics, so why not the Paralympics?

The Paralympics should gain as much media coverage as the Olympics. Sign this petition if you agree.
