Stob Ebola: Reopen Goma airport
Presidents Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Paul Kagame of Rwanda:
Innocent people are trapped between war and Ebola, dying while doctors and emergency aid struggle to reach them. Reopen Goma airport now and help stop this devastating virus from spreading further. The whole world is watching.

Presidents Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Paul Kagame of Rwanda:
As you read this email, hundreds of medical workers are racing to reach the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak. But the wartime closure of Goma airport, the backbone of aid in eastern DR Congo, is holding back specialists and critical medical equipment.
With Ebola, speed is everything. Even delays of a few days can cost lives and allow the virus to spread further. That is why Nobel Peace Prize laureate Denis Mukwege is urgently calling on both the M23 rebel group and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to reopen Goma airport for the humanitarian response.
Rwanda is the M23’s main backer and it cares deeply about its international reputation. If Avaaz shines a global spotlight on the role this war is playing in blocking the Ebola response, we could significantly increase the pressure to reopen this critical humanitarian lifeline and give Mukwege’s appeal the momentum it needs to succeed.
There is a small but real chance that, together, we can make a difference for thousands of people trapped between war and a deadly virus. Choose hope. Choose action. Join us.
