EU: stop social media addiction!
To EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Commissioners McGrath and Virkkunen:
As EU citizens, we see the effects that social media addiction has on our mental health, and on the mental health of our children. We urge you to turn off the addiction by ensuring strong enforcement of the Digital Services Act and prohibiting addictive techniques that are not covered by existing legislation. Social media platforms need to stop making money from our vulnerabilities.

To EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Commissioners McGrath and Virkkunen:
Leaked documents reveal that Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has known for years that its products are designed to be addictive - and that teens are hurt the worst. The platforms literally hack our brains to keep us hooked, and kids’ developing brains are way more vulnerable to manipulation.
EU President von der Leyen promised to end these addictive features - but she’s facing pressure from Big Tech to delay action! Let’s build a massive call from people across Europe to demand protection for ourselves and our children – when thousands of us join, we’ll deliver our message straight to her.
