Earlier this month, when Trump stood before Congress and declared that the US would get Greenland “one way or another”, the chamber erupted in Republican applause and laughter.

As if nothing could stop them. As if no one would care.

Now, with Vice President JD Vance forcing an official visit, Greenlanders — who overwhelmingly oppose becoming part of the US — are rising up. But they’re standing alone.
