Let Edward go home

To President Obama:

We call on you to do everything in your power to allow Edward Snowden to return home to the United States. We ask that you ensure he receives a fair trial by directing the Department of Justice to negotiate a plea bargain or at least prosecute him under the standard laws covering disclosures of classified information by government officials -- instead of the Espionage Act of 1917. Edward Snowden should be held accountable for breaking the law, but it is thanks to him that we now have the USA Freedom Act and that we've engaged in a much-needed global debate about privacy and national security. He deserves to be prosecuted fairly and given the opportunity to return to the country he has served.

Let Edward go home
The US Congress just passed the first limits to US surveillance in four decades— but the man who made it possible, Edward Snowden, is still condemned to a refugee life in Russia. It’s time to let him return home, and we can help make it happen if we act now.

President Obama can have the charges against Edward dropped, or at least lightened so that Edward might return to a fair trial. But instead of doing that, the President has signed a history-making law — which would have been unthinkable without the evidence Edward revealed of US government spying— and ignored Edward as he languishes in Moscow.

Key voices in the US are starting to call for Edward to be allowed home.If we raise a massive global outcry right now we could tip the balance so President Obama is left with no choice. Sign now and share this with everyone—at 1 million signers we’ll deliver our message to the White House.
