Stand with Serbia’s historic protests
Stand with Serbia’s historic protests

To European Union leaders:

We urge you to break the silence.

In Serbia, a peaceful movement for justice and democracy has been met with repression. Students and protesters – many of them still unlawfully detained – have been arrested, intimidated, and even subjected to sonic weapons for demanding transparency, justice, and democratic reform after the deadly Novi Sad train station collapse.

But instead of change, Serbian authorities have responded with fear and force.

The repression has now crossed borders with European citizens detained and deported simply for standing in peaceful solidarity.

This cannot be ignored any longer

Words matter. In moments like this, silence is complicit. The Serbian people are risking everything for a better future.

EU leaders must not stay silent.

More information:

Hundreds of thousands marched for justice peacefully. Now, many are behind bars.

In Serbia, students who dared to speak out after the deadly collapse of a train station are met with repression, and illegal sonic weapons. They are being detained, silenced, and accused of conspiracy. Even EU citizens who stood beside them have been deported.

And still, Europe stays silent.

It’s time we broke that silence together. Join us in urging EU leaders to stand up against corruption and for democratic values in Serbia. Avaaz will take our call straight to them.
