UN: Stop Excluding Afghan Women!
UN: Stop Excluding Afghan Women!

To the UN Secretary-General and world leaders :

We stand with the brave women of Afghanistan who are fighting back against their exclusion from crucial talks about the future of their country to appease the Taliban. We call on you to ensure their full and meaningful participation and that the UN ends this shameful exclusion. Special envoys should boycott these talks until this happens.

Ever since they took over Afghanistan three years ago, the Taliban have done everything in their power to exclude women from public life: girls aren’t allowed to go to school and women aren’t allowed to work. Experts call it gender apartheid.

Now even the UN is excluding Afghan women from crucial international talks to appease the Taliban.

These talks are meant to create a unified approach to the Taliban, who are desperate for international recognition and assistance. But while the Taliban are touting this invitation as proof that their rise is inevitable, Afghan women aren’t even invited – and they’re fighting back!

Brave women across Afghanistan have just launched a call to boycott these talks until they’re fully included, and our global outcry can ensure they’re heard. The talks are in days: add your name now and share it to make it massive – Avaaz will take our call directly to the UN Secretary-General and key capitals sending envoys to these talks.
