To all financial investors, bondholders and insurers of TOTAL and EACOP:

As global citizens, we call on you to halt the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline and stop associated drilling in national parks. EACOP is cutting through important biodiversity areas in Uganda and Tanzania and has already displaced thousands of farmers and households. This project seriously undermines your commitment to the Paris Agreement and to become “carbon-neutral”. We urge you to align your business under the values you publicly proclaim.

More information:

Oil giant TotalEnergies is building the biggest heated oil pipeline in the world – ripping through some of the world's most important elephant, lion and chimpanzee reserves across Uganda and Tanzania, displacing thousands of families, and tipping the whole planet closer to full-blown climate catastrophe.

The project is already over halfway built, and thousands of families report delayed or inadequate compensation. Local communities are doing all they can to resist the project, but they’re up against one of the most powerful companies on Earth. They need global solidarity more than ever!

Public pressure is working. After years of campaigning, over 40 banks and 30 insurance companies have publicly ruled out financing EACOP, forcing TotalEnergies and its partners to cover almost 90% of costs themselves and turning the pipeline into an even riskier bet. With the project already over budget and facing mounting legal challenges, every voice matters.

Add your name to stand with the brave communities fighting to protect their land, their wildlife, and our shared climate before it’s too late.
