"Dear Prime Minister,

We're writing to you as parents of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) with one urgent appeal for your first 100 days: please meet with us and listen to us.

Many of our children can't attend mainstream schools. Too few have access to local specialist schools that meet their needs, so many are at home with us. We've given up jobs, accumulated debts, and spent years battling an unaccountable SEND system to secure the basic education our children deserve. We'd do it all again in a heartbeat, because no parent can stand by while their child struggles.

But now, things are getting even worse.

Since Reform UK took over our councils, we've seen SEND capital budgets cut, school transport withdrawn, vital assessments delayed or refused, and parents criticised simply for standing up for their children's rights. We've even been accused of trying to "hijack" the SEND system when all we want is the best for our kids: for them to be happy, safe and able to learn.

It's heartbreaking, and we're fearful for our children's future.

That's why we're turning to you. You'll be our seventh prime minister in ten years. The SEND system is in crisis, and during this time of instability, it has become another political battleground. Sadly, it's our children paying the price.

We know the pressures on public finances are real. But this is about investing in our children, and our country. These are young people with dreams, talents, and enormous potential. With the right support, they can thrive and contribute to their communities. Without it, they risk being left behind.

We're not against change. But we are terrified that the current SEND reforms will leave our children with fewer legal protections than they have today. Before any decisions are made, we're urging you to hear directly from the families who live with the consequences every day.

Hundreds of thousands of SEND families across Britain are waiting to see what kind of Prime Minister you will be.
