• We demand immediate and decisive action to end the atrocities in Gaza and protect human rights . The alarming number of victims, especially among children , is intolerable. The international community must stand against the support of human rights violations and war crimes .

• It is time to impose sanctions on Israel to end the occupation and oppression . Only through a genuine dialogue that listens to the voices of all parties can we achieve a just solution and create a future where all people can live together in dignity and peace .

• Statement of Intent: We would like to emphasise that we do not wish to downplay Jewish suffering over the ages in any way. We acknowledge the deep historical connections and lasting legacies of all religious groups in this region, including the ancient traditions that have shaped the beliefs and practices of Judaism and Islam, and emphasize our shared commitment to peace (shalom, שלום ; salām, سلام ‎ ), justice (tzedakah, צדקה , ʿadl, عدل ), and compassion (rachamim, רחמים ; raḥma, رحمة) . This call for compassion and understanding is crucial in order to seek pathways to peace amid the complexities of our current realities.

• Preamble: We condemn all violence, including the actions of Hamas and Hezbollah, and seek to protect both Palestinian and Israeli civilians. We firmly believe in the importance of justice and human rights for all, recognizing Israel's right to exist in principle. While we also recognize the challenges and suffering experienced by many Israelis in this conflict, we believe that it is crucial for a long-term solution to address the injustices faced by Palestinians, as wrong and wrong do not make a right. Our focus is on the urgent need for changes in the current situation. This recognition is vital, as their challenges often go underrepresented or overlooked in Western media. We aim to enrich the discussion surrounding the conflict by highlighting the complexity and diverse perspectives that are often overlooked. In today’s polarized international debates, which often focus on denunciation rather than dialogue, there is a pressing need for fair, peaceful solutions.  Engaging with the complexities of this conflict, particularly through the lens of Palestinian suffering, is a key component for any lasting resolution. Recognizing the complexities of this conflict offers an opportunity to significantly shape public awareness around the importance of questioning any narrative—whether from countries, governments, or media. Treating this conflict appropriately so holds the potential to greatly stabilize not only the region but also global political discourse in alignment with the democratic values of peace, justice, freedom, human rights, and coexistence . A Call for Compassion:

1. Stop Palestinian and Israeli suffering! Our shared humanity, guided by our moral imperatives, compels us to acknowledge the pain felt by both Palestinians and Israelis in this conflict. The value of human life transcends religious affiliation. In a world where every life matters, the cries of children caught in conflict should awaken our collective conscience. It is crucial to recognize that the vast majority of Muslims do not identify with extremist ideologies like Islamism; the latter represents a political ideology, not a religious one¹ .

• This distinction is important, as it helps combat the mistrust that often arises towards Islam. Islamism selectively interprets certain aspects of Islam while undermining its core principles to justify the abuse of power² ³ ⁴ . Additionally, there are progressive movements within Islam that advocate for peace, women's rights , and inclusiveness , demonstrating a commitment to human rights and justice.

2. Urgent Need to Address Grave Palestinian Suffering: The renowned genocide and Holocaust researcher Amos Goldberg, supported by over 800 other scholars and professionals in the field of genocide studies, assesses the situation in Gaza as a form of genocide. This sobering evaluation underscores the urgency of acknowledging and addressing the immense suffering of the Palestinian population. Furthermore, this assessment is supported by numerous reports and legal documents that validate the credibility of these statements. Moreover, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has stated that states and companies must immediately end arms transfers to Israel to avoid complicity in human rights violations¹⁶.

• UNICEF has reported that at least 17,000 children in Gaza are estimated to be unaccompanied or separated from their parents, underscoring the profound impact of this conflict on vulnerable populations¹⁷. These alarming statistics emphasize that the number of children killed in Gaza has surpassed that of children killed in four years of global conflict¹⁸.
• Despite academic consensus classifying the current situation as genocide , international responses remain muted, partly due to influential figures—such as President Joe Biden— denying the severity of the crisis ⁴⁵ (see Narrative Section for more on the global impact of these narratives).
• A realistic perspective shows that there can be no lasting peace for Palestinians without addressing the civilian suffering and injustices they face in a fair and meaningful way. For decades, Palestinians have endured displacement and oppression⁵ ⁶, and the world can no longer afford to ignore this. Prominent thinkers like Noam Chomsky highlight the urgency of addressing these injustices⁷. The Israeli narrative has significantly influenced Western discussions for decades⁸ ⁹; however, scrutiny from reputable sources reveals that this narrative often fails to withstand critical examination.
• This raises serious questions about Western compliance with the promotion of prejudices, hate speech, and political extremism.Addressing the injustices faced by Palestinians by forming a solidarity front against confirmed serious human rights violations—similar to movements in France and Ireland—not only carries moral significance but also represents a crucial opportunity to realign Western policies with democratic values such as justice, freedom, human rights , and peace . This approach can help counter the current trend toward authoritarianism that opposes these fundamental values.

3. Inclusivity and Mutual Recognition : We advocate for the rights of all people , both Palestinians and Israelis, and emphasize that mutual recognition and the preservation of human dignity are essential prerequisites for achieving justice and peace for all those affected by the conflict. We are committed to opposing discrimination against Jews, Muslims, and all marginalized communities. Both communities have suffered immense loss, and a just resolution must consider the narratives and aspirations of both peoples. The right to exist must be rooted in a commitment to justice and equality for all. A sustainable solution must recognize the political and historical complexities, ensuring that Palestinian rights are upheld alongside Israeli rights. We must acknowledge and dismiss prejudices on all sides to find peaceful, fair solutions.
4. Addressing Injustices: We believe that lasting peace can only be achieved by acknowledging the injustices faced by the Palestinian people while also addressing the violence and suffering that affects both communities. This includes a recognition of the historical facts that characterize the situation as an occupation , particularly regarding the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza , which have been under military control since 1967¹¹. Scrutiny reveals that Israel holds approximately 77% of the territory, leaving Palestinians with only 23%— hardly a quarter of the land¹¹. This imbalance can be understood as a decisive factor in the oppression of Palestinians and the ongoing instability in the region. It is vital to critically examine all narratives that contribute to the conflict, acknowledging that violence from any side cannot be justified.

• The widely adopted argument that places blame on Arab nations for the failure of current solutions to achieve peace is part of the Israeli narrative, which references martial law. This narrative often seeks to dismiss Palestinian perspectives as unimportant . However, the current conflict demonstrates that these perspectives are indeed important.

• So let us ask ourselves: Shouldn't a solution grounded in democratic values involve mutual agreement between all parties? How can we expect a decision made under martial law to now produce peaceful democratic outcomes? By confronting these realities , we can foster an environment conducive to genuine dialogue and healing for both Israelis and Palestinians .

5. The Alarming and Dire Reality of the Situation: The conflict is far more troubling than many realize, extending well beyond the region of Palestine. The Israeli narrative has significantly influenced Western discussions for at least a decade⁸ ⁹; however, scrutiny reveals that this narrative is often inconsistent and reveals contradictions . This raises serious questions about Western compliance with the promotion of prejudices , hate speech, and political extremism.

• For instance, Amnesty Germany reports an increase in disproportionate violence by police against Palestinian protestors, including aggressive actions toward minors¹⁰. One particularly troubling incident involved Berlin Police chasing a minor while shouting "Ihr Schweine! Ihr Schweine!" („You pigs!“) simply for holding a Palestinian flag, while police statements of the incident contradict eyewitness reports. This behavior raises serious concerns, especially in light of Germany’s history, as it echoes the persecution faced by Jews in Nazi Germany .
• Acknowledging such parallels is crucial for ensuring that we do not repeat past mistakes and uphold our commitment to human rights and justice . Such reports highlight the urgency and far-reaching implications of this conflict, emphasizing the need to acknowledge its reality and advocate for a just solution that benefits everyone involved.

Historical Context: Historical facts support the characterization of the situation as an occupation, particularly in reference to the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, which have been under military control since 1967¹¹. Since 1967, Israel has maintained military control over these areas, leading to widespread displacement (e.g. 1948: Nakba - النكبة) and human rights violations¹² . The ongoing expansion of settlements and restrictions on movement further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis¹² ¹³. Acknowledging this historical context is crucial in understanding the current dynamics and advocating for a just resolution.

• The Gaza blockade, imposed in 2007 after Hamas took control, has been framed by Israel as a necessary security measure against potential threats. However, this blockade has led to dire humanitarian consequences, effectively isolating the Gaza Strip and exacerbating poverty , unemployment , and lack of access to essential services . Reports indicate that unemployment rates in Gaza have soared to approximately 46.6%, with around 62% of the population in need of food assistance⁴⁰ ⁴¹. Such brutal conditions raise serious questions about the motivations behind the blockade, particularly in light of the ongoing dehumanization , violations of human rights , and the denial of Palestinian human rights and existence .
• In light of these credible assessments, the bombardment of hospitals and schools in Gaza, which has resulted in significant civilian casualties, raises serious questions about the credibility of the Israeli narrative claiming to target Hamas bases. These shocking numbers and reports not only highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but also urge us, as an international community, to take responsibility and urgently take action to alleviate the suffering of those affected and to achieve justice. The combination of these issues calls into question whether Israel has ever genuinely intended to adhere to internationally recognized borders or UN resolutions, highlighting the urgent need for a reevaluation of the situation.

The role of Israeli narrative and Language in the Conflict The widely adopted Israeli narrative often places blame on Arab nations for the failure of current solutions to achieve peace . This line of argument aligns with Israel's repeated emphasis on Hamas as a primary obstacle to peace, raising serious questions about the motivations behind this narrative. Video footage of a speech by the current Israeli Minister for Settlement , Orit Strok, from February 2024 , reveals a troubling stance on Palestine and the two-state solution . She claimed that there are no Palestinians , that the land only belongs to them, and that the majority of Israelis oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state , which she argues has no historical rights and poses a danger to both Israel and world peace²⁸ ²⁹ . In another statement, she declared that Gaza was part of Israel and "will belong to us," reflecting an explicit advocacy for annexation⁴².

• This rhetoric raises serious questions about the intended fate of the Palestinian population in the region. Such incitement , combined with a dismissive attitude towards the internationally supported two-state solution and the ongoing expansion of settlements , not only threatens the potential for peace but also highlights a disturbing vision for the future of Palestinians and the region.
• The rhetorical framing of these demands, as well as the persistent reference to the exile of their people and the associated injustices , appeals to our sense of justice and the expectation for reconciliation . However, the relevance of this argument is brought into question given the severe and brutal human rights violations against Palestinians.
• Furthermore, Israeli rhetoric labeling Palestinian iniatives "the Palestinians’ UN circus — a circus where evil is righteous, war is peace, murder is justified"³⁰ is particularly concerning. This deeply troubling metaphor in light of the ongoing genocide reveals a dangerous denial of Palestinian human rights³¹ ³², which significantly hinders open discourse and suggests complicity in promoting negative portrayals of the 'enemy'³³ ³⁴ ³⁵. For instance, an Israeli minister claimed in October 2023 that they were not dealing with humans but animals , which epitomizes this dehumanization and incitement ⁴³ .
• The prevalence of such incitement and hate speech in the UN context highlights the urgent need for decisive action , as numerous human rights organizations have called for addressing these violations . While 11,355 minors have been killed within only 4 months , Israelis organize touristic boat tours , to view the destruction in Gaza from a distance³⁶. These perversions not only highlight the extremist and potentially fascist elements of the current Israeli regime but also underscore the urgent need to end disproportionate misery and injustice .
• The denial of the ongoing genocide is not only perpetuated by segments of the Israeli population but has also been echoed by high-ranking officials in the international community , such as US-President Joe Biden⁴⁵ . Despite mounting evidence and academic consensus labeling the situation as genocide, this form of denial showcases the far-reaching influence of the Israeli narrative.
• It shapes public perceptions and complicates efforts to address the realities on the ground. When a recognized genocide is denied at such a level, it stifles the urgency required for decisive action, effectively undermining international efforts to halt the atrocities . International calls for retreat from the Palestinian territories are falling on deaf ears . Given the shocking civilian casualty figures that are considered confirmed, as well as the far-reaching international influence of the Israeli narrative on global political discourse , as well as the extensive influence of the Israeli narrative on global political discourse, these statements cast a profoundly dark and alarming light on the progression of the war and recent political developments.
• The brutal attacks on Lebanon demonstrate a troubling desire for expansion and underscore the complexities of Western involvement , suggesting that the West is unlikely to remain disengaged from further conflict given its long-standing presence in the region. The use of white phosphorus bombs in civilian areas is a clear violation of international law and widely recognized as a war crime . Such blatant disregard for international norms and civilian safety cannot be ignored.
• Conflicts with Syria further highlight ongoing tensions regarding the recognition of internationally recognized borders and raise important questions about Israel's future actions. Moreover, in light of the shown incitement and the repeated and ongoing brutal human rights violations these circumstances provoke serious questions about the ongoing duration of this ideology and whether Israel ever had a genuine plan to adhere to internationally recognized resolutions, such as UN Resolution 242 from 1967.
• If this is the case, it compels us to critically re-examine the role of Western nations in shaping these political developments, raising unsettling questions about how global powers have contributed to an ongoing cycle of instability and oppression. Avoiding this reckoning not only perpetuates injustice but also risks further destabilizing the region and reinforcing harmful narratives that obstruct genuine peace.
• This prompts us to consider whether Israel's expansionist tendencies have roots dating back to its establishment in 1947 , driven in part by a historical context of European antisemitism that necessitated a homeland for Jewish people. This historical backdrop not only fueled the Zionist movement but also influenced the formation of Israeli policies, as the movement sought refuge from widespread persecution .
• If this is the case, it raises severe implications regarding Israel's compliance with international norms and resolutions, revealing a persistent pattern that continues to shape its geopolitical behavior and its approach to territorial claims and treatment of the Palestinians .
• Meanwhile, some Jewish people in Germany are expressing concerns about feeling unable to wear a kippa in public. This juxtaposition —where one community grapples with the existential threat of genocide in Gaza while another worries about religious expression—highlights the absurdity of the implications of this conflict. Particularly with regard to the spread of the enemy image of 'Islamist terrorists'²⁹ and the future of democracies , this is profoundly frightening and calls for action.
• The video also features dissenting voices articulating that the Israeli occupation is a threat to world peace . While such dissent exists within the coalition, the prevailing direction is set by extremist elements dominating decision-making.

The Gaza Blockade: A Catalyst for Political Damage in the West The ongoing Gaza blockade, which has been in effect since 2007, exemplifies the severe consequences of ignoring human rights , leading not only to humanitarian crises but also to broader geopolitical instability⁴⁰ . Rooted in a Zionist ideology that prioritizes Jewish settlement and security over Palestinian rights, the blockade has perpetuated a cycle of oppression and human rights violations that cannot be overlooked.

• Countries that support the Israeli narrative often face resistance both domestically and internationally, which is frequently denounced as inappropriate or one-sided. However, this narrative raises critical concerns regarding the ongoing oppression and human rights violations of the Palestinians⁴¹. Considering the democratic aspirations of these countries, it is essential to recognize that the protection of universal human rights cannot be considered inappropriate or one-sided.
• This neglect fosters an environment ripe for political extremists to exploit grievances, ultimately destabilizing political landscapes and polarizing public opinion . As the blockade continues to draw global condemnation, it becomes increasingly clear that addressing these injustices is crucial not only for the people of Gaza but also for the integrity of democracies worldwide, which risk losing credibility if they turn a blind eye to such humanitarian crises⁴¹.

Action steps

1. We need immediate decisive non-violent action to end these atrocities. The alarming number of victims, particularly children , is untenable. A report from the Gaza Ministry of Health lists 14 pages of victims aged 0 to 1 year alone , and it takes 115 pages before the identity of the first 10-year-old child appears ; the first adult, an 18-year-old girl , does not appear until page 215 , according to a report by LeMonde ¹⁹.

• This report is considered credible by various international organizations that monitor the situation. A study published in The Lancet found no evidence of faked death numbers reported by Gaza ²⁰. The exorbitantly high number of child casualties represents a serious violation of human rights and undermines the moral teachings found in many religious traditions that emphasize the sanctity of life and the protection of the vulnerable. The sanctity of life must be recognized for all.

2. End Support for Human Rights Violations Immediately: These crimes against civilians must have global consequences, and the international community must take a firm stand against human rights violations and war crimes . The pursuit of justice demands accountability and responsibility as a prerequisite for long-term peace .
3. Sanctions and diplomatic isolation of Israel. Over the past two decades, there has been a concerning drift away from democratic values , leading many to feel that the current government does not represent the ideals of equality and justice , as noted by observers of Israeli society²¹. Recent protests reflect growing dissatisfaction with the regime, reflecting a broader struggle against autocracy and a demand for democratic values²². This growing movement includes many Jewish voices , both within Israel and internationally, who have protested against the government’s policies, the genocide in Gaza , and the ideology of Zionism²³ ²⁴.

• These Jewish protesters stand in solidarity with Palestinians, demanding an end to the occupation and advocating for justice ²⁵. However, such opinions have increasingly been labeled as dangerous and antisemitic , casting a serious shadow over freedom of speech .
• The alarming trend towards extremism is exemplified by far-right campaigns that trivialize fascism , reflecting a disturbing shift in the political landscape²⁶. The international support for an extremist regime violating human rights and committing genocide must end. Peace cannot be achieved while oppression persists. Only through decisive action and a commitment to justice can we hope for a future where all people can coexist in dignity and equality.

4. Rethinking the political landscape —Whether through a reassessment of ensuring equal rights for all or a shift away from current policies, a just and fair reconsideration of a two-state solution is essential²⁷. Long-standing occupation , displacement , and oppression , alongside the brutality of ongoing attacks and the recognition of genocide , demonstrate that the current two-state solution is no longer viable.

• The dialogue must recognize that misrepresentation and prejudice can only undermine the long-term viability of such a solution. Only by overcoming these challenges can we achieve real progress toward peace and justice for all people in the region .

5. The situation calls for recognition of the complicity of the international community in the ongoing oppression. We must recognize that support or arms supply for an occupation that relies on the oppression of a native population is morally indefensible and cannot be justified. Despite mounting evidence and an academic consensus recognizing the situation as genocide , denial at the highest levels of government—such as President Joe Biden’s refusal to acknowledge it as such ⁴⁵ —has played a role in shaping international policy and justifying continued support for Israeli military operations.

• This form of narrative denial , as previously outlined, raises serious questions about the motivations behind such a stance. Could this persistent refusal be driven by geopolitical interests, strategic alliances, or a desire to maintain a facade of neutrality ? Furthermore, the recent proposal of an $8.7 billion plan for Israeli military operations under President Biden⁴⁶ underscores the influence of monetary interests , with significant backing from defense contractors and pro-Israel lobbying groups shaping U.S. foreign policy decisions.
• This financial support not only reflects a troubling moral failure to prioritize human rights but also contributes to an alarming trajectory of expansionist policies and the dehumanization of Palestinians . As settlements continue to expand and violence escalates, the moral implications of U.S. complicity become increasingly evident. If these trends remain unchecked, the region faces a grim future characterized by ongoing conflict, deepening divisions, and the perpetuation of suffering for both Israelis and Palestinians. Immediate action is indispensable to avert further catastrophe and foster a pathway toward peace and justice for all.

6. Countering Disinformation and Antisemitism through a Stance on Human Rights Violations : To effectively combat the growing antisemitism in the West, a decisive stance against confirmed human rights violations is essential. By confronting these moral failures and acknowledging the injustices faced by various groups, we can foster an environment that promotes respect and understanding among all communities. This holistic approach not only reinforces the differentiation between antisemitism and legitimate government criticism but also combats the suppression of government-critical voices in the West.

• Validating this perspective helps prevent political extremists from exploiting the situation to spread antisemitism. Moreover, it affirms the dignity of all people , establishing a foundation for a just solution that recognizes our shared humanity . Acknowledging that criticism of government policies , including those of Israel, does not equate to antisemitism is crucial for healthy discourse .
• Research indicates that societies engaging in open discussions about human rights, without fear of reprisal, not only cultivate stronger and more inclusive communities but also tend to be more prosperous and healthy . By prioritizing human rights and social justice , we can create a framework that supports the rights and dignity of all individuals, ultimately contributing to a more peaceful coexistence and mutual respect .

7. Clear solidarity against destabilization and polarization: promoting dialogue and understanding³⁰ ³¹. To prevent further conflict and discrimination, we must promote understanding and cooperation ³². Criticism of any government should not be conflated with hatred³³, and democratic governments must take a firm stand against any government or organization committing human rights violations in order to effectively combat antisemitism³⁴.

• The neglect to address this creates a space for political extremists toattack fundamental democratic values such as freedom of speech based on specific criticisms of the government³⁷. Political extremist groups use this vacuum as a vehicle to popularize xenophobic policies, thereby also attacking religious freedom ³⁸. We need to foster a dialogue based on mutual respect and understanding ³⁹ that puts an end to social disintegration , particularly due to religious discrimination and the aforementioned police brutality.

8. We call for a constructive dialogue among all stakeholders committed to peace and human rights . The goal of this dialogue must be to adequately address the concerns of all parties, foster understanding , and work toward a just solution , firmly rejecting all forms of violence, extremism, and discrimination .

• The only way to end this complex conflict is to clearly name the situation without distorting or glossing over it: the expansionist ambitions and severe human rights violations , which are justified by partially biblical stories of displacement under the pretext of justice, must be explicitly condemned by global politics and stand in contradiction to sound moral standards . The existential struggle of the Palestinians, the brutal oppression , and the long-standing glossing over and support for these immoralities cannot be accepted by anyone.
• There are widespread reservations about criticizing Israel. Yet it is crucial to distinguish between rejecting the actions of a government and a blanket anti-Israeli sentiment. In this case, we must critically address the oppressive measures and policies that contribute to the suffering of the Palestinians, as ignoring this reality would only perpetuate injustice and impede the pursuit of a long-term peaceful solution.
• In light of the aggressive military actions and settlement policies, the question arises as to whether Israel is genuinely interested in a dialogue based on peace and human rights , or whether it is instead pursuing a policy of control and suppression .

The world has given Zionism a chance, and the results are clear: the current path has failed to bring peace or justice . It is long overdue to take a firm and decisive stand against human rights violations . We must act now if we want to stop the current escalation and ensure justice and peace for all —not just for Israelis, but especially for Palestinians, who have had to endure decades of immense suffering under occupation and conflict . Collective action and open dialogue are not just necessary; they are imperative to foster understanding and create a future where all people can coexist peacefully. We urge the international community to actively exert pressure on all parties to find fair solutions and respect international law .
