Dear all,

the online petition has been closed together with the on-the-spot one.

We want to inform that the target of 5,000 signatures has been massively reached and Operazione Colomba collected more than 15,000 signatures. The petition together with the list of the people who signed will be sent to the national and regional authorities to be actively supported and to ensure the application of the law and the certainty of legal punishment for what concerns blood feud-related crimes.

We are thankful to all the petitioners for the engagement they take.

A great victory for the people who suffer the worst consequences of gjakmarrja.

Thank you.

Angelo Valsesia
Operazione Colomba volunteer

Commit yourself not to use violence in case of conflict and openly declare yourself against the practice of blood feuds. In this choice of fighting against the self-imprisonment of children, women and men to avoid murders for revenge, ask the Albanian State to be actively supported and to ensure the application of the law and the certainty of legal punishment.

In northern Albania, a degenerated interpretation of the Medieval Code of Kanun still survives. According to it, the lost honor (for a quarrel or for a murder) must be recovered with blood, that is to say, with another murder.
This gives the start to a feud that involves entire families, especially children and teenagers, who are forced to carry vengeance or to be segregated into their house for fear of being killed.

We see more and more that there is a great need for change from the people towards the phenomenon of blood revenge. People feel seriously the problem, but has lost the confidence and hardly believe that it is possible to solve it.

The on-line petition is put alongside with the collection of signatures that Operation Dove is promoting on the Albanian territory.

In the on-the-spot petition, the petitioner signs the same text as written below:

"I commit myself not to use violence in case of conflict and I clearly declare myself against the practice of blood feuds. In this choice of fighting against the self-imprisonment of children, women and men to avoid murders for revenge, I ask the State to be actively supported and to ensure the application of the law and the certainty of legal punishment."

Operation Dove is present in Albania since 2010 to fight against the phenomenon of vengeance. The volunteers of Operation Dove share their lives with isolated families and support programs in medical care and education.

The main objective is to get to paths of reconciliation between these families.

Commit yourself to fight against isolation by signing the petition against blood feuds!

Commit yourself to fight against this practice and sign this petition!

We need you to stop blood feuds. Sign for life!
