Arrested for asking questions in Bengal
Tilak .
started this petition to
Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal
Days ago, my younger brother was
arrested for asking the Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, a few questions
at a public meeting. For that simple act he has now been imprisoned and denied bail.
My brother is innocent,
has no connections with Maoists and I want him released. Please join me in my fight for his freedom.
We are from rural Bengal and my brother, Shiladitya, is a simple farmer who wanted to know why the prices of fertilizers were going up. But asking questions seems to be a crime in my state. I am determined not to stay silent and fortunately I even have the support of a former Supreme Court judge. If more of you sign this now, it will send a message to the Bengal government - that people power will fight back.
Please sign my petition for my brother’s release. When 20,000 of us sign, I will go with activists and reporters to the Trinamool Congress party office and try to deliver it directly to her.
