Dear Sir, Madam.
Czech Roma living and working in United Kingdom, are concern about ongoing injustice, racism and discrimination towards Roma community.
Roma are living with Czech majority for centuries and they are part of the society, not just in Czech Republic, but in whole Europe. The European Union declares equality, justice and guarantee the human rights, and we want those rights to be reached by Roma people in Czech Republic, and all we see is xenophobia and hypocrisy.
We urge for justice and equality for everyone in Czech Republic, but after recent incident, when Mr. M.D. was murdered in Žatec, we are concerned that the justice will not be reached and the case will be closed down as an accident. This is usual procedure of investigation, when Roma are a victim. Please try to understand how we Roma, living in U.K., feel now. We are all addressing the question if to stay in U.K., after Brexit, or not, but on other hand go back to country, where historically were Roma killed and even very recently, the crime has gone unpunished.
We would like to see how cohesion between Majority and Minority is built and as what we see, is just division, which end up with xenophobic and racist tensions inside the Czech society. So we urge the Czech government to investigate properly not just this case, but to eliminate any double standards access to justice and to create a peaceful environment, where we will desire to return.
Roma are European Citizens. Roma are Czechs.
