Global Event: Meditation for Fukushima

In less than 60 days the Japanese will be attempting to remove over 1,500 the spent fuel rods from a very badly damaged reactor 4. These rods are currently hanging 100 feet in the air and are brittle and damaged. The containment system they are housed in has been described as a crumpled cigarette box, and it contains zirconium alloy which is highly fllammable. There are over 11,000 rods currently on the entire Fukushima site which would be in jeopardy if anything goes wrong with reactor 4. It is critical that the task to remove these rods be done immediately as the building is ready to collapse, and if this task is not done to perfection a fire could start causing an explosion which would send a stream of radioactive debris 14,000 times the strength of Hiroshima around the northern hemisphere for at least 50 years.
