Robert K.
started this petition to
Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Senate sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the CINEMA Act
At a recent Senate hearing chaired by Senator Harkin to explore the current status of audio description and captioning in theatres John Fithian, the President and CEO of the National Assocation of Theatre Owners admitted that only 50% of U.S. cinemas offer either of these services compared to 100% in many European countries.

The studios and cinema exhibitors are fighting this legislation with all their "Hollywood" muscle. They argue that they will install these services on their own initiative - a repeat of a similar promise made some years ago but which they have failed to uphold. Without these services, people with visual or hearing impairment can't enjoy the movies we all love to watch and the movie industry (including streaming services such as Netflix) continues to demonstrate that it SIMPLY DOSEN'T CARE.

So just like in the movies, let's show them that the good guys always win and demonstrate your support for the CINEMA Act by supporting and sharing this petition with everyone you know so that we can help Senator Harkin get these important changes passed into law.
