House of Commons: Save Lendal Post Office

Plans
to close York’s Lendal Post Office and open a franchise in WHSmith are not supported
by the people of York.
The Post Office has served residents, businesses and visitors for over 130 years. The move will put the jobs of well trained and efficient staff at risk, will have a detrimental impact on the city centre and will see another public asset flogged off.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to put an immediate stop to this franchising plan, and to work with stakeholders to develop a new strategy that sees the Post Office at Lendal safeguarded for the future and retained in public ownership.
