Ireland Justice Minister
Direct Provision is an oppressive system in the Republic of Ireland where Asylum seekers are forced to stay in for decades while their applications are processed. They are refused permission to work or study during this time. Children born by asylum seekers in Ireland are forced to apply for asylum or else the government will deport them as they are deemed to be illegal in the country. Direct Provision only benefits a few capitalists who enjoy millions of Euros in profits at the expense of asylum seekers while the asylum seekers only receive a change of €19.10 per week. For 14 years this system has been in place, nothing has been done to listen to the voices of the voiceless within direct provision. Now we as asylum seekers are saying enough is enough, end this inhumane system and allow us to work and pay taxes like everyone else and integrate to society.
