Hong Kong is a crowded place with over 7 million people living in just 426 square miles. The population density is estimated at 17,024 people per square mile. Lawmaker Bill Tang-Ka Piu is saying a zoo should be built. He suggests that the government uses restored landfill sites, which are not suitable for housing, to build a zoo. We disagree with him. We do not want a zoo to be built in Hong Kong. We want the government to encourage children to observe animals in their natural habitat - the wild - not by going to the zoo to stare at them in a cage. Children should be taught in school that animals belong in the wild.

"As it is in Hong Kong, even rich families cannot see real animals without having to endure the crowds...it's high time for us to build a big zoo for our children."
