The number of desert adapted lions of Namibia is decreasing rapidly.
Soon there will be none left due to them being poisoned by irresponsible farmers who leave their livestock out at night or by trophy hunters.
These lions are Namibia's heritage and need protecting please.
They need to be collared and monitored and farmers made aware of their locations so they can safeguard their livestock from possible attacks.
Farmers need to be held responsible for the killings of these iconic animals and they need to be made aware of how important it is to kraal their livestock at night and keep their kraals maintained.
These are the last remaining free roaming desert adapted lions left and this is what many people worldwide, including myself, want to see when they visit Namibia.
These lions are worth more to your economy longterm through tourism than they are by being hunted and killed by trophy hunters.
You mention relocating some of these lions to other areas however this has been done before and they have returned to their original areas and been killed either by farmers or by yourselves at MET.
I may not live in Namibia but i am passionate about not only these unique and beautiful lions but all of Namibia's wildlife.
Please look at the longterm solutions for their survival not the short term money making solutuons.
Please educate the farmers on the importance of these these lions and how with the help of tourism these lions can help them also.
I understand it can not be easy for the farmers when their livestock are killed by attacks but this is where the collaring and monitoring of these lions comes in.
Please do not relocate these lions as it is like signing their death warrants.
Please protect them as they are your heritage and your heritage needs your help.
Over the past years i have told so many people about these lions and how they survive in the harsh yet beautiful landscape of Namibia.
I do not want to have to tell people that Namibia no longer has these unique lions due to them all being killed when they could and should be saved for future generations.
Please do everything in your power to help them to survive.
Thank you
