Municipality of Lesvos, Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food
We demand action for the estimated 2.000 stray dogs of Lesvos.

Lesvos is the 3rd largest Greek island and has no municipal animal shelter

We demand from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and the minister mr. Panagiotis Lafazanis and from the Municipality of Lesvos and the mayor mr. Spyros Galinos to:

1. Microchip all stray dogs and ordain dog owners to microchip their dogs, so that those who abandon them can be found and fined according to the Greek laws (Ν. 4039/2012)

2. Neuter and/or spay all stray dogs and ordain the neutering/spaying of all domestic dogs, so that their population can be limited and uncontrolled reproduction can be avoided (it is estimated by experts that if things don't change by 2024 the number of stray dogs will rise at 18.000!)

3. Create 2 no-kill animal shelters on the island of Lesvos where proper medical care and attention can be given to stray dogs
