NZ: greater climate commitment now!
NZ Y.
started this petition to
Tim Groser; Minister for Climate Change Issues; New Zealand
Right now countries are discussing a new international climate agreement at the UN climate talks in Doha, Qatar. We’re a week in, but shockingly,
New Zealand is being named as one of the worst countries at the negotiations
, having received not one, but FIVE 'Fossil of the Day' awards (given to the countries who do the most to obstruct progress).
If we don’t act now, New Zealand’s international reputation and its 100% Pure image will be seriously damaged!
Fortunately it’s not too late to remedy the situation . While our refusal to extend commitments to the Kyoto Protocol has angered many, we can rebuild respect. We need to commit to an ambitious new target range of at least 25% below 1990 levels, and upscale our commitments on climate finance – providing money to vulnerable nations like our Pacific neighbours to help them adapt to climate impacts.
On Monday Climate Minister Tim Groser arrived at the talks. Most Kiwis support climate action , so let’s present him with a giant Kiwi outcry to Keep NZ 100% pure! Sign the petition now, and forward it widely – members of the NZ Youth Delegation will be on the ground in Doha to deliver our call straight to Groser.
